Welcome to the new Gila River Indian Community Tribal Education Department website. We are excited to be a resource, share upcoming news and announce TED events. Please let us know if there are areas where you would like more information or if you have feedback of any kind. We are here to serve you, the Community.

Mission:
To Improve Education for the Gila River Indian Community

Vision:
Create and support an environment that nurtures lifelong learning and promote personal responsibility in every Community member, setting the standard for Native American Education.

Strategic Objectives:
1. Provide each family access to quality early childhood programming that best suits the individual child, and to empower guardians with the tools to become engaged supporters of their children’s academic and lifelong success.

2. Maintain a successful culture curriculum at all grade levels.

3. Ensure high standards and best-practice approaches are consistent across all school sites within the Community.

Culture Program

The Tribal Education Department’s Culture and Language Program’s primary focus is to revitalize the Akimel O’otham and Pee Posh languages while reinforcing cultural values and knowledge. Explore this program where you can learn more about Native Language Teacher Certification, Culture and Language Program Services and GRIC Orthography.

Student Services

Stage 1: Applicant submits application materials to Student Services indicated deadline date.
Stage 2: Student Advisor reviews application material and gives Applicant a check sheet showing what has been submitted.
Stage 3: Student Services sends Approval or Denial Letter to Applicant within 4 weeks after the deadline date.
Stage 4: Approved Applicants must attend mandatory Student Service Orientation.
Stage 5: Student services sends FNA to School to be filled out by their Financial Aid Office.
